How to check your numbers
Checking a lottery ticket takes under a minute once you know what to compare. Follow these five steps for any UK draw.
01
Identify the game and draw date
Make sure you are checking your ticket against the right game and the right draw date. A Wednesday Lotto line cannot win on the Saturday result, and EuroMillions on a Tuesday is a different draw to Friday.
02
Match the main numbers
Compare each number on your ticket against the drawn main numbers. Order does not matter — only whether each number appears in the draw.
03
Check the extra ball
For Lotto check the bonus ball, for EuroMillions the two Lucky Stars, for Thunderball the Thunderball, and for Set For Life the Life Ball. These affect specific prize tiers.
04
Work out your prize tier
The number of matches decides your tier. Each game page lists how many matches each prize needs.
05
Confirm officially before claiming
Always verify a winning ticket through the official operator before you sign the back or discard it. Treat this site as a fast first check, not the final word.
How to check — FAQ
Does the order of the numbers matter?
+
No. You win based on which numbers match, not the order they were drawn or printed.
How long do I have to claim a prize?
+
For National Lottery games, prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the draw date.
What if I lose my ticket?
+
A physical ticket is usually required to claim. If you played online, your account records the entry. Keep tickets safe until you have checked and claimed.
